SoybeansSince we are purchasing products to create a better environment for our children, the Wallables team felt that it is even more important to think of the bigger picture, and make a product that improves the environment for our children’s children as well.

WALLABLES: A RESPONSIBLE PRODUCT

Wallables is supporting American industry by moving its manufacturing operations to the United States and switching from standard petroleum based formula to one made with Renuva, a Natural Oil Polyol made from soy beans grown in the USA. This switch has environmental benefits as well. Soy is a renewable product and manufacture of soy based foam produces 60% less CO2 than the 100% petroleum product.

Flower Wallables in a girl's roomWallables owner Dan Garr was inspired to move in this direction by a television commercial about a soy based polyurethane material for car seats in Ford hybrids. Dan immediately saw the potential soy based foam could have in children’s toys. He reached out to Dow Chemical, who had developed the formula for Ford using Renuva, and they agreed to create a formula for Wallables.

Dan began working with chemists at DOW to develop a proprietary Wallables formula using Renuva . We at Wallables are now moving forward with this formula to make all of our products with this sustainable material. Renuva uses soybeans grown by over 600,000 soybean farmers in the US. We have also been working closely with the United Soybean Board, (USB) to increase and encourage the use of US soybeans in other types of toys and consumer products. Currently, many new formulas are being created.

Our packaging will also be a sustainable and natural product, and Wallables will offer ‘brown box’ shipping from our online store. In addition we hope to offer recycling of our product in the near future.
